I'm going out of town tonight, which excluded me from any outings during the weekend. So I figured I'd give it a shot. I didnt even see the tide chart or anything...I told myself I'm going because I'm going. Hit the sand @ 5:30 and decided to give it a solid effort.

Conditions: Projected 2-3 Foot swells (Wingnut later let me know what I was walking into), overcast, light rain, clear then MURKY water, no salad, no baitfish present, very very cold.

Date: June 16, 2011

Artillery: Customized LC

Duration: 5:30 - 11am

Once on the surf, the water was nice and calm. I thought to myself, "what 2-3 foot swells?" I began to cast away in search for my target species, Hali's and Cali's ofcourse. Not too long after I had arrived, the swells decided to show up. Arthur, was right lol. Good looking out brotha, next time I'll listen to ya. Man it was rough out there. If I was going to catch anything today, I was definitely going to have to work for it. Little did Poseidon know, I was up for the challenge.

Excuse the crappy pics, my GF found a waterproof camera at work in one of the old cabinets, brought it home and it was the first time that I used it, dont like it much.

Break, Break, BREAKKK! well, lets just say it didnt break and this was one of the smaller versions.

About an hour into the session, I was working an area that looked real fishy. I knew it had to have one of my target species and what do we know, I feel a strike, lowered the tip and bam, fish on.

Fought for about 30 Seconds, and he was done

It then died out for about 2 hours. It was way too rough and it kinda made me want to quit, but thats not S.W.A.T's style, I was taught better than that. After further casting at a sandy spot I get nailed again, no head shakes though, definitely not a flatty....a calico? Nope, After bringing it into the skinny I saw that all to famous yellow fins. A nice chunky YFC on the board.

Close to the end of my session, I get nailed bigtime. I set the hook as if it was a whale biting my LC, it took some drag and then I gained it back, took some more, then I re-gain. Atlast, I bring it into the skinny and what do I see? My first legal and PB, sunglasses.

All in all, it was a pretty rough day....made the best out of it though. Till next time. Tight lines.

Nice job out there Frank.
Nice little chunky checkers ya got there buddy. No guts no glory!!
Damn......That water looks creepy brown. I would have probably not stuck it out but the trip down there is kind of commiting on it's own. I think I'm sticking with the trench fishing in cleaner areas until poseidon makes up his mind on this south swell. Conditions are looking good for this weekend though. I hope fathers day puts me on some fish with my kids.
Thanks for the report soldier!

That's some pretty nasty-looking water, but good job pulling some fish out of it! In the rain and cold too... that's dedication. I like it! :Thumbs Up:

Dang Frank, looked like you had to cast an extra 20 yards just to get past the chocolate milk. You didn't get the skunked and that's a testimony to your determination.
Well done soldier! :Thumbs Up:

That water looks like crap. I'm surprised the fish were able to find your LC. Nice looking calico. I'm still looking for my first one from the surf.

That water looks like the water up here. Not very inviting. But you did very well for what I could see. Nice job.
