After news broke that the Redondo Special had limits of seabass on Monday, the phone lines at Redondo Sportfishing were inundated as many wanted to get a piece of the action. The Tradition ended up with 40 anglers on Tuesday, which is unheard of for us, but a testament to the excitement that the news of white seabass brings.
We got in the area and mounted up, and nothing much was happening except a few bat rays and one black seabass, all released. Then we moved close by and it was game on. We had flurries of seabass throughout the morning that kept the excitement flowing as everyone fished hard to get a bite. Unfortunately, these things really bite on the tidal swing so we had a lull for a while. But meanwhile if you dropped to the bottom you had a little pick on the bass, sheephead, rockfish, and spanish mackerel. In the afternoon we hooked and landed a few more but that was about it, but we ended up with 13 seabass from 16 to 31 pounds. We also had a bonus barracuda bite in the afternoon on the jigs, which kept things exciting.
We ended up with 13 seabass, 40 bass, and 30 barracuda. There are some seabass around, and as long as they are here, the Tradition will be going after them. Stay tuned for more…
