Woke up around 3:30 to the sound of my alarm and decided to get ready. My friend Angel was supposed to pick me up but when he didn't arrive I decided to call him to see where he was and sure enough he was just waking up. I then drove down to Redondo and patiently waited for people to show up. I asked Larry in the office how many reservations there was and he replied 20, so I then knew the Tradition was going out for sure. When we got out of the harbor Capt. Steve gave his safety speech and our targeted fishing area and he said we would be headed towards the horseshoe where there was big schools of barracuda. We all tied on our surface irons and hoped for the best. As soon as we arrived at the horseshoe we saw a lot of boats and knew it was game on. We were greeted by some big log barracudas on the first spot but it didn't last very much so off we went. Some people started trolling their irons and were rewarded, these same people did this from spot to spot and caught them each time. We moved around to a great spot where most of the fish was caught, it was pretty much wide open. The barracuda were hitting everything at this point which made for a lot of happy anglers. As soon as we had enough barracuda the captain said we would try the kelp before we headed home. Everyone was eager to see if the calicos were willing to bite. There was few being caught but there was also sheephead and a couple of rockfish being caught. We then really made a big move towards home but hit one last spot which is where the few calicos were caught. After a while at this spot, Capt. Steve said we were headed in and the jackpot was called and I was the lucky one who won it. Great work from the deckhands and the captain for putting us on the fish. The hot jigs were Tady AA, Tady C, Salas 6x, and the colors working the best were white and brown, white and green, and blue and chrome.

That's alot of Gar. They look smaller then a couple weeks back ?

When I saw the 3/4 day boat going 3 mph inside the harbor yesterday with a ton of birds behind it I knew it was game on.
