Anyone familiar with the Humminbird FishFinder 700 series and the power source? I'm attempting to rig 8AA batteries (rechargeable and regular just in case for quick replacement) with the Radio Shack battery adapter to get the 12v with a minimal of 200mah per required by the unit. Anyone tried this rig before, and if so, how long before the juice run out.

I'm not an electrician, but based on the 8 battery pack calculation for the 1.2V rechargeable 1900mha AA's, which mount about 240mah avg output, I'm getting roughly 7.8 hours at peak usages. Can anyone confirm the viability of such rig?

Yeah that is what I do for my fish finder. I get about 9hrs out of a set of 99 cent store AA batteries....just keep them in a dry place on your tube.

Awesome. You actually load it with 8 batteries or just 4?

FYI I actually found a deal on Amazon for the humminbird battery, it was 24.95 with free shipping. Once I got it I ran it for a week straight and only lost 2 volts, I keep it inside of a "spinner bait" plano box to protect it while out on the water, works great.
