All but one fish was CPR. One fish got hooked in the gills and I could not revive him. So I took it home and ate it.
Action was slow for people not using Lures. Saw four rattle Snakes around there, so be carfull guys. Respect their space, and they will respect yours.

Wow! Crystal Lake has some big Greenies in it! Very nice. They are really a pretty fish. Cool fins. That bass looks like it has an old injury on it's side. Hey you should change the date on your camera..

I have not been there since the closure in early 2000, do you guys suggest I bring a float tube or my kayak? You think being in the water will produce more fish?

BakoBigMike, Thanks! The biggest I have ever seen! The one I kept made a couple of great tacos.

Fishmounter, Thanks! I have tried, but if I turn it off, it resets the date. It used to be my dads camera for work. He dropped it from about 10 stories a few times. I'm just happy it works

Darius, I do not think they allow Float tubes or Kayaks on this lake. But I would say Float tube because of the 3/4 mile hike from the highway that you take to get there. I have only shore fished there, and I have only seen shore fishing and most of them have had great success.

I have float tubed it in the past before the closeure, i would not think of bringing my kayak all the way down those stairs from the parking lot, dont know if they changed their regs since reopening, hope to be there soon doing some shore fishing though, just want to go back and check the place out.

Well, next time I go I will besure to grab my float tube.
Its a tad bit hard at some points, but you can walk then entire perimeter of the lake with out going more than 3 feet from shore

Why was it closed?

originally closed due to the fires, then there was mudslide damage then there was another fire then another mudslide that took out the road leading up the mountain, its been closed for years now. Nice to see it open up again.
