You catch a few of these this size and you've got a fine meal coming! This fillet was from a 10 inch Bluegill. (And when I fillet them, there is not one bone to be found!

Nice Job!! Looks like you have fileted a few in your time. Mine don't look quite that nice yet. But they sure taste good:Smile:

Thanks M@M. I have not kept and cleaned any fish in maybe 15 to 20 years (really!) But I guess it is like riding a bicycle. You don't forget how and it all comes back to you. After tasting a piece of fried Bluegill recently, I decided to start keeping some of the larger ones. I can fillet 25 fish in about an hour.

Crappie are the BEST!!!!! Nothing compares. Sorry that I'm not really answering your question lol.

Yes, they are quite good. Though some salt water fish is better but we're talking a different category. Anyways, curious if anyone can compare bluegill with crappie and trout for me.

Beer-battered bluegill will always be superior to trout IMO!

This is how I learned to fillet bluegill. They don't have to be big for you to fillet them.
