I met fishmounter (Jeff) at 6AM this morning at the Bernasconi entrance to Lake Perris. Getting our float tubes unloaded and on our carrying devices, we headed down the ramp to the water. Once again, we were the only ones fishing this area until later in the morning. With crickets being the hot bait for bluegills and redears here at Perris, both of us had a supply of the earth-toned insects. I also had some meal worms and fishmounter had some earthworms from his garden.
Kicking out a couple hundred yards put us on good panfish action. And so it went for the next five or so hours. The action definitely was not non-stop, but overall, it was very good. Final count of fish landed for me was 25+ with lots of lost fish. I know fishmounter had at least that number, if not more.
Once again, it's best to use U/L gear with two pound line.
