Western States Police & fire Games, DVL...

[Nessie Hunter]

I spent the past Week at DVL pre-fishing and then Thur & Fri Fishing the Games in both Team & Individual Events...
Western States Police & Fire Games (Olympic style event). Medals, no money...

I did win a Gold Medal for First Place in Individual on Fri.. So freaking stoked, dont think it has sunk in yet!!
Maybe when I get a few days of rest, Im Sun Burned to a crisp, totally exhausted and flat worn out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to Extend the Biggest Thanks to LAST CHANCE BAIT & TACKLE!!!
Megan & Matt were there for all the Participants with Help and Advice, they stayed open late for us on Wed, (we had a meeting that lasted late)..

Without there help and advice we would have failed miserably!!
my Partner Mike came all the way down from Susanville on Sun. We fished hard all week. Our best fish and all of my Winning Bag (all 5 fish) were caught on that advice, plastics, and technique that Matt & Megan, more or less taught us...
Baits and style & technique we had never fished before!!

I have to say, I am proof that any one can do good & Win..
Im a old retired (PD) recreational Float Tuber and this was my First REAL tournament.
I took 2 rods and 3 reels and a small (Purse sized) Tackle bag..
Minimalist & cheap low budget guy.

I listened to Matt & Megan, my Partner & did what worked best....
My Partner talked me into going, I felt like I was way outclassed in ability & talent for something like this..
My last Two bass trips were total SKUNKS!!!
All the winning fish were caught on The spot (his spot) from my assigned partner (Boater) for Individuals day fishing.. Non-Boaters were assigned by a draw to Boaters.
Back seat position..
The cards were stacked against me to say the least.........

Even though my Win was a fluke, I am very glad I was even there among the best of the best (Police & Fireman)..
Those 2 days will be memories that will last a lifetime for me!!!

First though SCOTT WILLIAMS did an amazing job setting up the event. We are very appreciative that we were able to help run the event. It was super fun seeing some of the guys that fish our "normal" events fishing this event. Great bunch of guys protecting our streets and our lives. That was a pleasure trip for all 3 of us.
Great day learning a lake that has changed X a zillion since the water dropped, I havnt fished it since the drop & Mike has never fished there at all... ..
