Mini Rant: TIA

Just gonna speak my mind here, if it offends you then click off the post pretty simple. I intensely dislike when I put up info on a post, and all you get is TIA. I'm not citing any one person, but it seems like a small trend here. I like giving out info to help people catch fish, and learn new stuff. Yet, why should I? Isn't the point of having an online forum composed of thousands of members to create an online community of fisherman who actually give a crap about helping each other? Maybe its irrelevant, but perhaps "Thanks In Advance" is just more of an insult than an appreciation. But really? Is it that much of a pain in your life to come back on FNN for two milliseconds and write a "Hey, thanks for that experience-laden info you forked over". Half the world sits on their computer for hours at a time twiddling their thumbs on Facebook, reading emails, or watching friggin porn (no judgement, just listing some Web usage). Does it really take that long to write a thank you? Maybe it does, maybe you are so hooked into your life that fishing is an afterthought. I sure hope it isn't, but if it is, maybe its time to reassess things. Or at least say thanks when a fellow member gives you info and help. Oh well, off the soapbox now. Fire away boys...

I hate it when i leave full detailed reports and i get like 1 reply and it has nothing to do with the report. I guess one reply is better than nothing, it just gets me how i will have like 200 views and like no replies. Not even a thank you. Its whatever though, the past three years ive barely did anyfishing at all. Maybe a combo of 6or7 fishing trips in all over the past three years. and only like 3 fish to show for it. mini rant done. =)

yeah....I generally always thank anyone that helps me out....if someone doesnt get a thank you from me, its unintentional.......

it used to irritate me about spending over an hour or more typing a report, get 1000 views, and not many replies...but have since not worried about it...me knowing that I have contributed is enough for me these days..

This is a very good thread.Well,how about from now on I promise to support the thread I click and read on.I will reply.
I know there's hundreds of folks reading my great reports and I get 10 replys.I know my thread are worth 30 replys at least.
But in person,my own friends tell me that my post was great,or funny.I be like,well why didnt u reply?
That way I can make the next post even better.But I know my post are Grade A.So haters can just read and be jealous
that I had a great time with the new erra of my family.I know some folk on here dont like me or jealous of how
I represent! But guess what................I'm a leader,not a follower.And I dont give F what people think about me
or the events we throw! Cuss can u guess again? Yes,our events will continue on ! So join us,or hate us!

No worries man, I'm not as much irritated as perplexed by how little courtesy exists on every fishing forum I've ever been part of. I have faith no decent fisherman would fail to thank you in person when you help them on the water or in the shop, but for some reason not having personal contact viz a viz the Web makes a barrier for common courtesy and respect. Welcome to the 21st century I suppose, age of information and introversion lol

I am guilty of this, but even though I say "thanks in advanced", I also come back and personally thank any information given. TIA is just a way for me to let people know I am appreciating any advice....in advanced. I guess it isn't needed to end a post that way, but I like to try to be nice. I understand and agree with your point. It is rude to not give someone the time of day after they take their time for questions you asked.

I dont hate people for not saying thank you, but its a little bit annoying when there like a thousand views and no reply. Ive had some threads with no replies at all, and they were detailed reports and everything. I do make sure to at least say something positive, but have been guilty of not saying anything at all. I cant complain because i do almost no fishing in a year compared to you guys and leave almost no threads about my day of fishing. But im going to change that.
