Got a new BBQ last weekend, which kept me occupied the entire time. I figured the beach would be packed anyways so I didn't fish.
This weekend, my girlfriend Michelle wanted to get her license (finally) and hit the surf with me. Obviously I said " Well...of course babe". LoL
High tide was going to be about 12:50pm, 0-3ft swing. No need to rush. The sun was out, score! Last time I fished the surf it was drizzling and cold! It was nice to be back, lol.
I set Michelle up with the normal setup, c-ring with 4# leader about 20", a # 6 baitholder hook and a 2" sandworm.
I must be getting better at reading the surf because I tell her to cast out in front of this darker, nervous looking area and on the first cast... yup, she has a fish on in no time!
Shortly after a few cranks and a few hoorays she lands a little BSP! I'm proud, and excited, because now she will always want to tag along with me this summer!

Before you know it, she is up 3-0, and I'm 0-4 on hook ups! I was getting nervous that she may outfish me at my own game! She had me looking sideways:

But finally I was rewarded with my own batch of BSP and started my comeback.

Michelle got a little chilly, so she went to dry off and sit on the sand for a bit while I caught up. She came back out to tie it up before we left at 12:50pm :)
Quick session. The bite wasn't wide open, the shore pound was big at times and the current brought in salad and a good uphill flow. I ended up catchin 4 total and Michelle the same.
And tonight we may ride our bikes to a local lake that is having a catfish derby today. Woo hoo!
Here are some bonus pics that Michelle took while she sat and learned :)
