Pier night fishing north oc

Are the piers open all night? I'm taking a friend that dosent fish much and I'm going to get some catfish bait lol. Also what would be better, newport/balboa pier or hunington?

The balboa pier is decent just at night as of recently there have been nothing but schools of thousands of mackerel and smelt and thats all that was nibbling at my line all night besides a little skate i caught. usually your bait is gone in less than 15 minutes (even severel whole mackerel i threw out). i do ok on the seal beach pier and that one is open 24hrs. balboa closes at midnight and i think huntington does too. good luck! big bait = big fish!

Our piers are all open until midnight, except for Dana harbor, which is open 24/7, and seal beach, which is open until ten PM.

However, at seal beach, they often overlook you being on the pier well after the hours.

All the other piers in OC close at midnight. SOMETIMES, the cops will wait a couple of hours after, to give everyone a chance to catch something. (very nice of them to do that!)

Thanks for the info guys, not sure if were going to go to np pier or balboa, hows the parking at balboa? Feed the machine quarters or what? Lol I haven't paid for parking in forever, we were going to go to the m street dock in the harbor but he dosent want to buy a day lisence because he's thinking about buying a year soon but he dosent fish much do he's up in the air on pulling the trigger.

Change of plans, hittin the wedge jetty instead.Much better choice, IMO, especially if you stay late. There's gonna be a big low-tide, so you will be able to avoid the kelp alot easier.

How late are you guys staying?

Not sure, high tide isnt untill midnight so probly not late enough to catch the low.
