Anyone know the difference between the Shimano Stella FD and the Stella FE. Is the Fd better for salt water?

Thanks.

I believe that the oldest is the FA ... and then B ... C ... D... and now FE. There were some before that. I have heard at least one opinion from someone on this board who works at a tackle shop that the FB may be better than the FD.

Nice reels ... I have a few along with a Sustain ... and a couple of Symetres

There was the FA, FB, FD and now the FE. None of them are good for Salt period! DON'T DO IT THESE REELS ARE MADE WITH MAGNESIUM!!! They won't hold up to the abuse from the salt. These are fresh water reels only. The FE is supposed to be the smoothest of them all yet. I personally like the FB the best but that is also my personal preference.

If you want a break down of the FE here is a link:http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/reels/spinning/Stella_FE.html

If you want an offshore Stella then you want an SW and here is a link for that:http://fish.shimano.com/publish/content/global_fish/en/us/index/products/reels/saltwater_spinning/Stella_FA.html
