Keep bottom contact, reverse droper loop with a 24-36" leader to the hook.

because when you tie the loop about 36" above the end of the line tie a bigg loop in, that is where your going to be attaching the weight to and your hook on the other end where you would normaly tie your weight. The key is to keep the weight draging on the bottom and with a 6-8" loop it will keep your bait near the bottom but just off the bottom above the halibut and where you want your bait to be at. Plus you will have direct contact with your bait thru the line. just give it a try, its better than carolina rig :).

I've kayaked that bay before and always wondered how well people did while fishing there.... good luck
