Today my dad and I woke up at 7:00am and hit the beach asap. We had an 8:30 tide, no wind, and no salad. We heard that there were barracuda being caught off the beach so we watched the water for birds. We turned around to head back to sycamore since we hadnt seen any bird action. When we got there a dolphin splashed its tail and all of a sudden there is a small frenzy, which dies down in a moment. So we wait 10 minutes and we get into some perch. Its pretty good fishing and dad gets a pig perch going 13 1/2". And all of a sudden, he gets SLAMMED. This monster is ripping 6lb line off his reel like nothing. It starts to get tired and he hands it off to me. Well, another 15 minutes goes by and this thing is tired but we ned to surf it in. We spent over 10 minutes waiting for it to come in. I yell to grab its tail and he just hopes it doesnt have teeth. YEAH!!! A nice 3 1/2' Shovelnose! That is a first for us. a total of a 30 minute fight. That fight was definitly a team work.
Holding the beast even with a cast.
