Fished Oceanside this morning between the pier and the jetty. Got out there at 15 till 6 and wanted to fish till 10 but only have enough quarters to fish a little past 8. I wanted to test out my new Shimano Clarus CSC-79MHA rod (that thing is bad ***. I can tose a LC a mile with it) The HVT (high value target) today is halibut....0615 caught a small pancake size bat ray. 0646 caught a nice bean that pulled line. I thought I hooked a nice Leo. I got him on the sand, unhook, measure, snapped a pic and Back into the water he goes. Kept fishing till about 0800 when the surfer started showing up. Didn't catch anything else after the beanzilla.

Still wanting to get my 1st legal SD Hali and will be at it again Sunday-Tuesday!

Thanks for reading and y'all have a safe weekend.

No Kidding J, seems more WSB than beans here at FNN.
Used to be a highly sought after surf fish, ask Bones he's old and might remember. Lol

I'd take a 22" bean over a short halibut any day.
That is a Fat Croaker
