Hey guys, have any of you tried using beef as bait? It seems like it would work really well, cus its so bloody. I might try it a bit when i go to the pier again. Might be really good for sharks..

It might work. My friend caught a large sheephead with a piece of pork from his vietnamese sandwich.

You will catch mackerel. Those slimey suckers will eat anything. We even caught one with a chocolate chip!

yeah man, i was at the MDR jetty and all this guy has is fishing line, hook, weight, and chorizo. he caught a few smelt. you could tell he was fishing for food. he had his wife and kid with him. the funny thing is he was catching more fish than me...so i was like...its on! so i tied on a sabiki rig. he still outfished me!

We used to use beef heart cut into chuncks or into worm sized strips. I always worked really good. We used to feed it to our aquarium fish too. It bleeds out really fast though. If you don't get bit in the first 20 minutes or so, you need to change the bait.

if they eat plastic, why not beef?

raw chicken might work better.. I still have some mackerel guts and scraps left for bait though.. thanks for the feedback, guys.
