aloha fellow fisher peps
went out with a buddy from chicago. he wanted to try his hand @ tuna fishing, his first tuna trip. we started scratching our way with 1 albie here
3 there 2... then a huge paddy with 35 pound class YT... we ended up
getting 29 tails to 33 pounds... #10-#20 mixed in & 5 of the bigger models. we lost alot of fish with tangles & snap offs... then more of the same scratch albie fishing... next day was more searching & looking. we started 60 miles west south west of the point & ened up 75 miles out so we had to stop fishing @ noon in order to make it back to the docks @7pm. 2nd to last paddy of the day i tie on a blue & chrome UFO iron & let it go deep for an Opah... no hook ups so the capt said lets go looking for another before ours times up. right then my jig gets slammed so hard... im thinking opah but it went straight to the paddy which we had a glimpse of a huge YT estimated to be #40 class. fought it for a few
minutes then snap... i was so bummed.. oh well thats fishing...
i ended up with 5 albies to #28 pounds & 2 YT to #12 pounds
my buddy got 1 albie & 1 YT & he didnt want to eat the heart...
great crew & comfy boat... they worked really hard to get our catch.
i would recommend the SA80 & capt terry's crew... DavidE you were
right about this boat..........AWESOME....!!!!!!
oh yeah i forgot to tell you guys about the fin back whale that came up
on these breaking tuna & eat the entire bait ball along with a few tuna im sure. it was like a huge black hole just swallowed it up. it was an awesome sight of nature. the whale's head came out of the water & it looked so narley with a mouth full o'food. no more breaking fish...hahaha.
the final count was 59 albies & 48 YT for 32 anglers...
funny thing is the report off the H & M site said we caught 2 dodos
which i know is BS... wassup with that mis-print...
peace out & tight lines 4 ever

some of the bigger YT caught.....nice quality fish. i've never seen so
many bigger YT's just swarming around like that before. usually about
#20-#25 models on these 1-2day trips. even the capt was impressed.
