...Tuesdays success!

Edit: Wingnut, thanks for the links!! Bsp, thanks for the sound advice!! It has paid off, although not keepers, we see them on the horizon!

The short:

Monday: Bolsa Chica, high winds, high surf, high tide = skunk (no shock :Rolls Eyes: )
Tide: Incoming
Bait: hardbaits and swimbaits
Time: 6pm-8pm
Result: Skunk

Tuesday: Long Beach
Conditions: Incoming tide, Glass (with the exception of wake), Bait fish all over
Bait: hardbaits and swimbaits
Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm
Results: 2 short hali - 1 Cuda

The Long:

Note: If i were the one to catch fish, I would post pics of me. Seeing that my son seems to be the only one catching, here goes :Envious:

Out with komplexkee (son) and enkrypd (bro in law).

Hit the surf about 6:30 and no less then 5 mins being in the water Komplex screams to us, Fish ON! As I'm rushing out of the surf to snap pics, i hear Enkrpypd saying "That little (Beep), how the (beep) and (beep, beep, beep). Anyway, I feel his pain and when my son catches.. in a sense, I catch. It measured out 18" head to tail so back in it went.

No more then 10 mins later, I'm watching Komplex cast and retrieve (learning, but I won't tell him that... nope, never! Even when he reads this I'll deny it! (The student has become the teacher and the teacher has become the student):Big Grin: . So, as I'm watching, his lc hits the water, he reels no more then 2 turns and WHAMO, FISH ON! At this point i know my job, run out, get camera, revive fish, let him continue fishing :Envious: I glance over to Enkrypd who is about 50 yards away and he's paying a complement to Komplex with the birdie, I mean a thumbs up. 22" Cuda (took me 2 mins to revive it for some reason. We didnt have it out too long.

At this point Enkrypd and I are chest deep thinking komplex's waders have something to do with it. We look back at him as he casts damn near 10' off the shore and hooks up his 3rd of the day and 2nd hali. Enkrypd at this point is walking out of the surf and bagging his pole in disbelief. All in all, its always a good day out at the lake or surf.

Here are some pics:

Great job out there!
Recent intel has identified a greylight and dusk bite at that AO. Good to see that you are on top of it. You are only the second person I've seen stick a slimestick there also......NICE!

Thanks for shout out man! Glad to see you putting some time in on the sand, and you're seeing the results! Major props on the cuda too, that's not a common catch!

Congrats on the catches, especially the cuda from the sand.

I'm liking this pattern. I had painted a similar pattern, but I lost it on a horrific backlash before I could catch anything on it. :Embarrassed:

Thanks guys, seemed to have missed the replies :D

@ghetto: Yeah, its a nice place just to chill and relax with no real wave danger. Maybe we'll see you down there sometime.

@bones: So I've heard, that they don't come in this close. I tell you though, somethings making the bait fish jump... can't be the butts. Idk?

@rocknreel: Nope straight to the mainline, using 14lb mono and 12lb flora on the other.

@bsp: Yeah, you know its a problem when the wife is calling at 10pm wondering why the boys aren't in. Also, figured how to read certain types of waves :D

@Re8el: It is over fished, however is a nice place to relax and take it easy.

@DR: Thanks!

@jaysuun: Did you ever replace it? Any luck? Nothing here, I look at it and think, the butts have to/cant resist this lively looking lure. But as it turns out, no luck.

Nice report FDB,
Your boy is doing quite well with the LC.
Heck, I haven't caught a cuda on the LC yet.
Thanks for the report,
Robert

Dood! Good stuff! That spot only holds cuda when the flats bite is super wide open. All we need is two or three days of blistering sun, and it will go WFO on the party boats.
