Don't even bother if you're planning on going there. I wanted to catch some catfish/lobster bait but I didn't see anyone catch any mackerel. Did see a couple smelt and one sardine over the rail. I left after 20 minutes.

Would not give up on that Pier just yet.

Wait for some consistant 80 + highs

and water above 60,s and the Macs

should show  Hot summer nights at

sunset off the right end of the Pier

used to be WFO on the Bubble & Jig

Bonito Rig

Like FS said. Couple hours later could be a different story. Last 2 trips to KH JCS produced NO Macs.
They swim in big schools and might just be on a Swimabout.

Re8el,
Next time see if you can find some bean clams or very small mussels.
Open them up, tie them to the hook, with small diameter thread, and see what happens.
I've been hearing there are spot fins over there and they will tear those baits up.

p.s. start in the middle, the further side of the bait stop.

Was there Saturday, when the schools pushed through, the whole south side would be slaughtering them, size was between 8 and 10 inches.
