Today was the makeup for the 2011 Masters Championship and what a tournament it turned out to be. Before we get into the whole story. Daniela, myself and the rest of the Irvine Lake staff would like to thank everyone that participated in the Masters Qualifing Tournmanets. It has been an incrediable year to say the very least.

Prior to the Masters Championship the weather helped out a little bit with cooler than normal temperatures that put the trout on the chew. Guys pre fishing reported fish being taken on the troll, bait fishing from boats and from the shore it was anybodys ball game.

Brian Cater of Orange checks in this 5.6 Rainbow Trout that fell for a mini jig in Woodys Cove. Brian's quality bow earned him 3rd place and a Blackrock Tackle Signature Series Danny Kadota rod.

Good ol Bruce Watson was on the hot seat for a majority of the day with this 5.8 Rainbow Trout. Bruce made the catch while trolling a Shad Rap in Sierra Cove.
Howver it was not meant to be..Bruce would have to settle for the bridesmaid postion!

Tim Blackshire of Ontario with his 5.12 Rainbow Trout taken on a Shaun's Smokin Jig dipped in Bite On Garlic. Tim was fishing in Woodys Cove when the big bow bit. For his efforts Tim took home the $1000 cash, a Blackrock Tackle rod, a Diawa Excelsior reel, the Masters Jacket, the trophy and the one year unlimited fishing pass to Irvine Lake. A big congratulations goes out to Mr. Blackshire.

Thanks to all for a great day. Irvine went all out in putting on this Masters tournament. I kept thinking about OFG today but what a fun partner I had in CJ. Next year Chris.
It was nice to catch a big fish that really bloodied up the boat, in yet, I didn't have to clean up the mess. However, I really missed my steeringwheel, fishfinder, downrigger, rodholders, padded seats and trolling motor. Other than that, it was just like fishing in my own boat.

I coat my lures with it when I troll. It seems to get 2nd and 3rd hits after a short bite. This Masters bite was so tough this year that I tipped my lures with about 1 inch of nightcrawler dripped with Bite-On garlic. Please don't copy this idea this weekend while I'm fishing the Memorial Day classic.
