Hello Everyone...I wanna try lead core over at Irvine lake. Can anyone recommend a good reel? Would the Abu Garcia BCX Baitcast 6601 be ok or is that too small? I plan on using 100 yards of 12 lb. lead core so Im assuming a 6 lb. fluorocarbon leader would be ok? How long should the leader be if i plan on using a lure such as a Rapala X-Rap Shad or a CD-05 firetiger. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Lead core over a down rig. is a option you always wanna use for good reasons . Iam not familar with the Garcia reel your asking about but a LEVEL WIND is a must . The 12 lb. lead with a 6-10 ft. fluoro. leader is perfect. Try using a J-5 or J-7 firetiger rap. [ jointed lure with more action , as your already using lead to get down deeper ] You better hurry thou as Irvine is getting ready for its warmer water fish to bite .
