Finally made it out for some Barracuda action ! :Big Grin:

Fished aboard the Victory today 5/20/11 with a couple buddies ,
MTwiz and PaylakeRay . No wide open bite , but we had a good
steady pick on the Barries.

Highlight of the day for me was hooking a couple on my Abu Garcia
Revo Winch bass reel , loaded with 12lb izor and a Megabait .
What a blast , Got 2 Barries on that set-up for some drag peeling
fun.

Bass set-up - 80XF Graphite USA & Abu Garcia Revo winch reel.

A little later in the afternoon we made a move for some Rockfish. We had a good
steady bite on those also.

And a nice red for the dinner plate ... :Big Grin:

I ended up with 4 - keeper size Barries and a couple shorts(released).
All caught on the jigs , Megabait & Iron Man #2 & 3.
And 5 assorted rockfish.

Seemed like most of the Barries were caught a little deeper on the iron.
All sorts of different color jigs. So good luck out there guys !
And have a great weekend !

Hi newfishsmell,

Ha ha ha I've got Mike, deck Carl, and little Mike trained on me using my Ambassaduer 5000's and 6500 C3's with Bass flippin' sticks or custom Bass builds when fishing ANYTHING including the Barracuda !! All my fish caught on those setups !! Ain't gonna bounce the fish but decks happy to gaff a fish they know will end up on the cutting board to whoever I give them to that day !!

Now .......... start fishing the plastics ....... I held my own with anyone on the boat two trips in a row. Not bragging just ..... it can be done !!

atta boy !!

Good job using the light gear Chuck.
I tried last year, when the Bonita were biting, and they tore my stuff up!
Thanks for the report,
Robert

lol , yeah the deck Carl was right there for the gaff , even though
i called him over a little early, because the Cuda still had 4 or 5 runs in him ... lol
I just might head out again midweek and give the PLASTICS a try ... :Big Grin:
Thanks Ron !
