Hey guys,

I am still transitioning into the saltwater fishing game. So far I have:

- Avet SX & Teramar 8' MH: 50# pp + 25# mono topshot
- (old) Shakespeare reel & Ugly Stick: 20# mono
- bass rods: 10-12#

I am planning on purchasing an Avet JX + Calstar in the future. But for now, how would I make the most out of what I have?

Current use:
- Avet SX: irons or flylining
- Shakespeare: on the rack. or dropshot.
- bass rods: I like to use these for dropshotting. They just feel good. :Big Grin:

It doesn't matter how big your arsonal is if your not useing those rods on a regular basis.
I see alot of dudes with alot of gear but they don't fish much. The other day this guy was telling me about all his gear and upgrades he has done. He has not even fished this year. LOL

Sounds like your off in the right direction, just go fishing.

Thanks Dockrat,
But what I was asking was what to use each of these rods for? Because right now, I'm sort of limited on "ready-to-go" setups when the bite gets hot.

Thanks,
Kevin

What you have sounds good but I would respool the SX with 30# mono instead. If you need to go lighter you can alway's tie on a short flouro leader that's lighter.

Personally I think one can do wonders with a 8' stick rated 10-25 fished on 15-25lb topshot. Also to accompany that some kind of reel that can hold 250yds+ of at least 50lb spectra.
