Late report. Trying to fix pics. Wanted to hit the cudas, weather chased them out. Big waves and wind made us stay in close. Hit Pt Loma kelp at 8am sunday. First drift through near the green tanks landed us 2 calicos and a huge sculpin, all near bottom. By the way, the sculpin is 2'12 oz! Even the Fish and Game warden who boarded us in the bay thought the sculpin was huge! Wind and swells increased, so the drift was too fast, 2 more passes for nothing, even with 1 oz leadheads. Dad said lets try for some halibut, we saw 1 guy bring one up on our way out of the bay, he called his shot. Hit the bay for 1 hour despite the wind. Drifted for our first ever halibut (16"), so pumped for my Dad. Be back at it soon. Thanks to all those who reported before us, and especially to those who PMed me. We are going to fish SD a lot this summer. Will post soon. D (I hope the pics come out.)

I looked up cabezon on yahoo. It says they have no scales. My fish had no scales, really leathery skin. Does a sculpin have scales? If so, then I did have a cabezon. Thanks for the info!
