The Vine 5/16 Trout Trollin 4-5.07lbs

Had some days off and was finally able to get lines wet again at the Vine as its been sometime...
Wanted to troll all day as usual, knew that there were still big trout waiting to bite as been seeing the likes of many locals at the lake landing 5-9lbs as of late...

Got to the lake about 945/10am and started the troll...within 30mins I landed a solid 4lb. While netting the other line gets smashed on...as i was trying to net my first fish in, i was watching my other rod bend furiously in the rod holder...as i netted it i put the fish/net/rod down and ran to the other rod. It was gone, but luckily my lure wasnt.

I then noticed one of my friends "the scottsman" trolling and doing his thing. I called to him and told him what was goin on, and he said he was metering "a lot around here..." Just then i got a return call from one of my friends Johnny...I told him i was on a bite...he asked if it was stormin or cloudy/wind i said not yet..

He got to the lake sometime later and i picked him up from shore...With him seeing the fish i had landed it got him psyched to fish. Needless to say, we had another great trollin run/day. I found the fish in a few spots and got to land 4-5.07 (johnny landed 5.07 and my best of the day was a 5.02, all fought great!)

Ended the day with a full stringer of trout in the 3.8-5.07lb range
-tried out some new gear from Rapala, Luhr Jensen, Storm and more

I have lost trout from my stringer by not pulling them out of the water before you move the boat. Nice going on the trout . Looks like the Masters Champ will be a troller for sure this year . But one never knows .

Its not trout stocking season til Novemberish.....

Actually we are in the tail-end of the Vine's trout season right now. Pretty sure the last trout stocking of the season goes in this week or next week. I'm 100% positive they stocked last Thurs. With the Masters make-up date this Sun i'd imagine they'll probably atleast be stocking again this week. Lots and lots of solid trout still in that lake as you can see in this report. Get out there and go get 'em!

Sweet, thanks for the update. I took yesterday off from the vine and am glad to see it's still happening. I'm hitting the rock cod later this week, so I gave the trout a break.

TS TS is correct, there was a stocking last Thursday, and probably until the Catfish season comes in June...the water temps are good still, and the water depths are better then the last few years...it will be a fun summer of trout/blue-channel cats/crappie-gills/wipers/bass fishing again!...last year i was catching trout all the way up to October to Opener... :Wink:
