BV 21 lb catfish

Local lake just a few miles from Bakersfield this guy caught this 21 pound catfish using shad for bait, is this a blue or am i mistaken?

Looks like a blue to me, but I could be wrong. The pic is a bit dark, so kinda hard IMO.
Btw, was that from Webb or Evans? Evans Catfish derby is tomorrow.

It could be a blue, but the way he is holding distorts the anal fin, which is the surest way to tell the difference. If it is a channel cat, then it is a real trophy. From what you can see of the anal fin it looks like it is probably a blue. Nice fish regardless.

Blue or channel its one hell of a fish. They don't taste that good when they get that big regardless but I shire would want to catch it anyway. Makes me want to drop some bait on my crappie excursions. 40 pounders are not out of the question up here.
