Greetings Dudes, and Dudettes!

Here I am live from Bishop on the WiFi. Have been here this week and going home Friday.

Arrived here on Sunday while you were (probably) having Mother's Day. We had ours on Saturday, and Sis is staying w/ good 'ol Mom so I have someone to watch her while I have my get-away. Took a side tour on the way up, by way of Onion Valley (west of Independence). What a crazy road! I was met with snow at the top while I had my Subway. Back down the hill and arrived Bishop at 3:30. Was a pretty windy drive from Victorville all the way up.

Monday, had to see Sabrina in conditions like that so went the extra to see it. It is still a bowl of ice cream, with emphasis on ice. 30 degrees when I got there and gusty. Checked out the stream below and only saw fry and fingerling size. On down to Intake 2, which got kinda busy. A few hours of bait and wait, and the clouds decended and it snowed. The snow began to stick, and I had enough of not catching so headed back to town. Some people left, and some stayed. I'm cold blooded these days so had my fill. 34 degrees when I left according to the truck.

Tuesday, back up to Intake 2 to see if I could do better. More hours of bait and wait, and nothing. I can tell 'ya the busiest place was right around the inlet tube. Other than that, catching was the exception. Nicer day w/ less wind and 54 degree when I left around 3. One good thing I found, you don't have to suffer the stink of the pit hut there by the parking. Walk a bit in the campground road and look to the right. That hut is regular flush facility w/ a sink. Also there's a house bib outside if you need drinking water.

Wednesday, Woke up to Chamber of Commerce weather today. No clouds and no wind, and that perfect kind of morning we come here for. I went to Convict and arrived about 9:30. No, I'm not an early bird these days. Oh well. Threw in about 10:00 on the north shore when I found a good dropoff spot. Nothing again till 1:00 when I broke for lunch. Ah, the stock truck arrived about 12:30, and dumped a load from the south shore parking. What could I be using all this time that isn't working?! I threw all my flavors of PB all these days and nothing's working. Same report from many I bumped into - not much action. After lunch I hit Convict Store for Big NC, and headed to the Inlet. After 30 minutes, I reeled and checked to see I had half a worm left. Someone stole half my worm, I tell you!! I never saw the rod or nothing! Well, at least they're out there. Repeat the theft two more times. I left there at 5:00, and returned to town.

Staying at Mountain View Motel, and have had no problems. Line Street is more quiet than Main? OK, I guess it's relative then. Good that I have a room behind the pool area so am far back off the street. Stuff like bbq grill and AM coffee are handy back here. Also this is a north facing room, so I notice I don't get bombed by the sun in the windows (in the AM). Oh, I see, you would not either since you'd be at the lake by that time! Forgot to mention Casino gas is $4.21 for Reg, and is $4.45 for diesel.

More tomorrow, while still "Live in Bishop".

Thursday -
Took the advice from FSHNLIC, and went back Intake 2 from 5 to 6 this evening. I happened to have a pack of LipRiperZ jigs in my bag, so rigged up something and gave it a try. Had a nibble or two, but it was new for me so didn't score on them. Seemed all people along shore were quiet, as well as the 2 tubers. Guys along the wall were throwing spinners (as usual) and they were quiet too.

Anyway, thanks for the tip. Lesson learned this week. Something to try in the bag of tricks.
