Got a call from Yoshi who is here in the states visiting from Tokyo Japan, he's the bass player in a Metal band called Goro, http://www.crushermagazine.com/revgoro.htm
So Yoshi spoke better English then a few of my friends, he went to school in New York when he was younger.
Yoshi was staying in a Hotel in Lil Tokyo and needed a ride to go fish, so we worked out a deal and away we went...
I got him a day fishing Licences on-line with the info he gave me so we were legal and we were set..
I made down to the hotel, headed back up to Castaic and picked up the boat over to Gallions corner for breakfast sandwiches and some sandwiches for later on grabbed some bait and made it to Pyramid befor the gate opened, there were about five bass boats in front of us and that was about the only boat traffic we saw for the day.
Day started out a little cold, I had a extra jacket for Yoshi, he said he didn't think Calif. could be cold so the jacket worked out perfect.
Yoshi was really stoked about fishing here for his first time, he fishes bass in Japan, mostly canel type places, and I believe he said he's been to Lake Biwa.
We started throwing reaction baits and the bite started pretty quit, Rainbow trout was the first fish for him, with a largie and a smally after, we still had yet to get him his first striper, I said we would most likely have to wait to anchor up and bait fish for that, so we pick away on the bass and trout for a while, he was taking pictures of the landscape, we saw a lone deer, he commented about how clean the air was compared to LA and Tokyo.

We tried the plastic for bass on a couple of spots but no fish, we messed with some bedfish for a while, Yoshi was amazed at watching the bass come back and forth to the nest, we never stuck any but had fun none the less.
So it was off to my first spot for the stipers, we got our first on a lure, then anchored up to bait fish, just then the wind picked up and never went down for the rest of the day.

we got blown off that spot, then went in to yellow bar, no biters there, went and used the restrooms, I pointed out the bear proof trash cans to him, lol
then of to the only spot on the lake that didn't have a 30 plus wind on it, backside of the inland under the wrong way sign.
we wited about ten minuites the wind was even pushing us around back there, Yohsi's back rod was first to go off, better schooly fish, male, it was squiting at us, glad to see us I guess, released him as we did all the fish that day, his rod goed bendo again, smaller fish, then he gets hammered and sets the hook hard and this ones pulling drag, he reaches for his other rod to clear it and the bigger model brakes him off, couple more fish and the wind gets us and pulls our anchor. so it was late and time to head in.
I fired the Champion up and sped in on top of the wind blown lake and back in to the marina.http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr349/sddave50/da45c6ef.jpg
Headed down the hill, talked about Calif. and other lakes we have available to us, he's planning a trip back to the stated latter in the year and is going to fish again, I told him in the late summer and fall that the topwater action would be happening, I gave him 3 baits to take home, a topwater spook and a couple rattle traps to fish on his home waters.
Dropped off the boat then took him back to downtown. We had a great day, it was really interesting to hear about him and his band and life in Japan, he reminded me of my young son...
His band is playing tonight at the Kit Kat Club in Hollywood so if any of you metal heads are interested head down there, there's two anglo bands and two Japanese band on the bill.
Good Times, Dave
