I'm saving up for a boat, and trying to figure out if there's anything ideal to look at.

Here's the ideal requirements:

- Something I can fish fresh or salt water in
- 40+ hp 4 stroke
- Allow 3 to 4 men fish comfortably
- Budget $10 to 15k (less is better obviously)
- 17' to 23'

I don't need to go to Catalina or anything like that. I'm just looking for something practical for a lake, and somewhat sea worthy for costal fishing.

What I'm finding are boats that seem to be far more fit for one vs the other.

If your going to fish saltwater better get a boat with more HP and an engine set up for saltwater.

i can't get 32 mph out of my 200 h.p. yamaha 4 stroke so don't expect em to easily do 40. Lots of good boats in the 20 k range with 4 strokesn and ready to fish. I saw a lot of 2 stroke centerconsoles that looked real good for less than 10. rob sanford at san diego boats has an aluminium jethawk with yammie 4 stroke all brand new for 18 k. it was display model maybe they'll finance the rest.

Nice, that jetcraft looks like it would fit the bill. I do like aluminum with the center access to the bow.

.. and i meant 40+ horse power, not mph :)

My boat is 17' 6" and I feel crowded with 2 sometimes as well.
I dig going solo too. Less men the better.
2 guys is the best.

There is a boat I have had my eye on at hippmarine.com that seems like a good deal... i would have gone to see it but dont have the money yet... i think that its a 21 foot trophy walkaround. its a 93, for like 13,500 which seems like a good deal but the engine might be shot... never know, but worth checking out anyway. hope you find one you like... im still holding out for a 21 foot whaler outrage. hope everyone has a good day.
