I took my friend, Steve, fishing with Art today at DVL .

The short report:
kinda slow day, all three of us caught 3 or 4, most were “rats”.

The longer report:
On the lake just before 7:00am, It was a beautiful day out on the water, hot, but very nice. My friend Steve has never been Bass fishing in his life, and he has only been salt water fishing with me a few times, so to say he is a “Newb” is somewhat of an understatement. I thought, who better to teach him how to fish than Art Hill; I was not disappointed (neither was Steve). Art is awesome at showing inexperienced anglers how to fish without making them feel stupid. We fished dropshot Robo-worms in about 20 feet most of the time. Each of us lost a few fish close to the boat, and seemed to be getting “short bit” a lot (when you see how small some were, that may explain it). We had a short day because Steve had evening obligations, so we were off the water before 1:00. A fun day was had by all, and I think you may see a few more pictures of Steve fishing with me in the future because he is “Hooked”.

Commercial:
I know there are a lot of guides out there, (and I’m sure they are fine) but in my opinion, Art Hill is truly special. I asked him to take care of Steve, but he still had time to show me a thing or two as well. I always learn something new when I’m lucky enough to fish with Art. DVL or Vail, Art Always puts his clients on fish!

On a tough day, a bass in hand is a bass in hand!
Good work guys, nice crisp pics too!
Cool, clean DVL bass.

I think holding the fish out to the camera makes it look huge! Hahaha! And I agree, Art is a great guide and is very accommodating to his clients. We went out on Sunday and it was a tough day for us too, but we caught a few. I caught my very first smallmouth which was fun. We haven't been out there since last year so we have a bit to learn on where all the good spots are now that the water is up.
