Alright boys just got back in town a few days ago, but hopefully it’s worth the wait. Left California on the 12th, to road trip out to Oklahoma, just got back the 1st. When deciding to make the trip out there (to visit the bro and my 2 new nephews), I recalled a discussion FSHNLIC and I had bout the quality trouting on the White River in Arkansas... after little consideration I thought, “hmmmmmmmmmmm, that’s sounds good, I think ill have that.” --Lloyd Christmas

Made the 5 hour trip arriving in Cotter, Ar at 22:00. The first day I hired a guide, Cranor’s Guide Service….dude Donald was a “reel” cool guy. He was down to earth, professional, polite, good conversation, heavily sponsored; i.e. Loomis & Shimano and best of all; he knew where the fish were and how to catch them. He definitely understood the river along with all its nuances. Thanks again mang!

Well on to the meat and potatoes…..first day met Donald at 07:00. Launched and was on the river by 07:30….had the 1st fish on by 7:50…finished the day between 23-25 fish, all but two were browns!!! I let the pictures talk for themselves…

Seeing how good the fishing was the day before, I was excited to wade the river....Donald showed me some good spots prior, and I was on the fish in no time…it was the complete opposite as the day before though, with all but two being rainbows. I threw the hardware at them all day….with the best being gold Kastmasters and cd rapalas. Didn’t take as many pics since we all know what rainbows look like. Thanks for reading and enjoi!!!

On a side note though, Boys Be Very Careful When You Go Wading By Yourselves!!!! I don’t have felt soles, just some old rubber bottom Vans. As I was wading downstream, I slipped on an algae covered rock and fell chin deep, back facing upstream, into the drink. Water started filling into the waders, as I almost sh*t a brick…luckily, the current was against my back which thankfully, thankfully assisted me in squaring up and getting back to my feet. My 1st near death experience while fishing, lol….but serious though, be careful!

...and btw, thanks to the members on the board who provided info

Nice trip! I've always wanted to go there since I was a kid and was reading up on Rip Collins catching that world record on a mini-jig....

Great to see the White is still growing big fish. You really brought back some great memories. Did you mainly fish the upper end towards the Bull Shoals Dam. The White River is one of our countries best trout fisheries. I fished it several times a year for 13 years. Is White Water Slim still guiding? As I told you before, stay away from him. He's a bait and wait guide.
Glad you had a trip of a life time. The next time you go, and you will, will be as good or better than the first time.

thanks again dale, glad you dug it....yeah, we fished around the roundhouse shoals marina...the river is still producing some big feesh 20+, but we were limited on the river due to the high winds...couldnt hit the "reel" good spots...still got some pigs tho, and a few pbs. lol. ill be back for sure!!!! White Water Slim passed a few years ago...sorry to hear, but my guide basically agreed with everything you said. thanks again

@ Drew- we were using minnows
