Went out to silverwood Saturday what good be a good day of fishing. The morning had little wind but as soon as we set out on the boat the wind decided to pickup. I checked the weather conditions of the other lakes and silverwood look to have the least amount of wind.

Anyways My brother was the first to hookup some fish. I think he got 4 before my mom and I got our first. But When it happened it was great. I caught 1 bass before I caught at least this 18inch Trout. After the trout we decided to beach the boat so we didn’t have to work as hard. on The first cast at this location my brother hooks up a nice bass. Seconds later on my mom’s first cast she hooks up as well. Than on my second cast I hook up on a 4 1/2 pounder. Since I was using 4# line it was a fun play. I managed to pull it in without snapping the line.

We moved to another cove where my mom and brother hook up on three more fished. We moved again I hooked up on another one. We moved another time and My bro hooks up on a fish than I threw my line near where he caught his and I got a fish on.

Results for this windy day. Rabbito 11 Joe 6 my mom 2.

Days like this make we want to go out again and again. Sucks some of us have to work for a living. Hope you enjoy the fish porn.

The Wood has always been pretty tough on me so I'm always glad when someone is able to make it produce. Thanks for the report.

I've been thinking about going, but I've only been there once a long, long time ago... And there's few reports of the place, so I'm not so sure... Will be going for trout (first time out for the girlfiend) and bass if I get fed up :)

My brother-in-law wants to rent a boat this Sunday. It has been many years since I have been there. I am going to try bass trout, stripers, panfish, taking everything. Hope the wind is down. Thanks for the report.

The reports said that Stripers were near the dam or in Chamise bay. I didnt hear there were any stripers in cleghorn. That might have been why you didn't catch any stripers.

The wind everywhere was strong this weekend. Actually there was less wind at silverwood than at other lakes in socal. Its just this time of the year. There are strong gust that run through Silverwood alot. The high desert is a windy place. Thats why I had to leave and only comeback for a visit or two.

I also went to silverwood this past weekend, but I went on Friday 4/29. Target species was LMB. Weird, I left my house 6am in VV and it was blowing, got out to the wood to almost completely calm conditions. Wind did come up around noon and didnt subside till about 5:30pm.

Report:
Bass were only slightly active in the early am as water temp was only 57deg. Fishing by boat, I managed 3 1.5-3 lb'rs mainly fishing the area near twin coves, just inside the transition to shallow. Saw a few males fanning out beds but no females up yet as of the am. Midday bite was SLOW. Spent some time graphing some deeper water but to no avail. Worked my way into Millers canyon just in time to get molested by the wind around 3, but with the wind also came some bites. C&R'd two more but better size ~3.5lb/s. 5:30pm near the back of millers, found some submerged wood piles and got 5 nice fish in 20 min. average between 2.5 and 4 lb. Headed back to the dock at 6pm. All LMB successfully released at point of contact.

Air temp hi: 72
Water temp: 57(am)-62.5(max)
wind: calm+5SSE(am)-7+10ESE(afternoon)
Bass still in late prespawn or early spawn modes. Strange, silverwood is always about a month to 6 weeks behind other lakes for LMB spawn periods.

Nice day! The fish have actually backed off a bit from the beds I've noticed the last couple of days, but they will probably move back in soon if not today. I'll be out there tonight for a looksie....

They have moved off a bit but have not gone far. And I agree, with the warm weather this week, the shallows will be bustling with activity thurs/fri. I'm going back on Sat to give it another try, but unfortunately another cold front is comming this weekend. I'm still searching for that 10lb'er that eludes me!! Hopefully I squeeze into a prefrontal condition. That would be sweet! Looks like sun/mon is gonna be down to the low 70's high 60's.

Nice report, my buddy and I went out there yesterday and CR'd 38 LMB from the boat, largest 6lb.. It was EPIC. My buddy caught a video of the 6 pounder catch Ill post a link to the vid when he uploads it, we were screaming like little girls with the excitement though, lol.

I live just below the Cajon Pass and yes it is generally windy this time of year. With the time change, I like to drive up there after work and catch the last 3 hours of daylight on the lake. I was windy this last Friday, and it was difficult to hold the boat in the wind. But with a little tungsten inserts in the plastics, which helped keep our lines tight enough to catch 3 LMB, the largest 3.6 pounds. I lost two others in some structure; one was the fish that got away. We all have heard that story…..right? Well, I play with this fish for about 5 minutes trying to get it to swim out, it was wrapped up good. So, we fished only 2 hours and 20 minutes caught 3 LMB, but had constant action. We only fished about 50 yards of shoreline. It’s the right time a year for LMB at Silverwood…………

The wood is so good right before they start spawning, they be so hungry for senkos. We caught all those fish and werent able to hardly fish anywhere with all the wind. Would have caught more if they santa anas werent blowing.
