Headed out in hopes to break a 2 trip Puddingstone skunk. Worked East and Sailboat Cove. Water has dropped quite far and is slightly murky.

Saw a cloud of fry leaping like crazy and watched a fairly large bass with its mouth open inhaling them over and over. Failed to entice him to my line though.

Moved on later in the day to the large East shore pier and got a nice hit at about 6 PM on a drop shotted 1 3/4" Lunker City Shad. Surprised when I pulled this catfish up.

Threw him back to grow bigger for the next time. Had a strange wound on his back.

No bass, and have yet to see a Red Ear this season.

forget the reel, you still have the plastic on your rod corks! :P

One of my rods still has the plastic on the cork. I'll take it off in a couple years, and I'll have a new rod again. :-)

haha yeah. I have rods that are 3-4 years old with the plastic on, but this one wasn't even a week old. I took the plastic off today though, my hands kept slipping in the water.

Steven, the reel is a Shimano Calcutta. I got it for surf fishing mainly, but was testing and practicing my casts. Might have to bring it for more catfishing, if I go to any over night events!

I love my Calcutta reels, and use them (150s & 250s) for bay bass fishing. They are simply great reels. That looks like a 250 you have there.
