Nice report and pictures Ron. I was fishing the cuda on the victory last year and there was this young japanese guy absoultely killing the cudas with his butterfly jig and $1K spinning reel. He told me it is bad luck to see Mr Mambo. Next stop I snap my old loomis jig stick bouncing a cuda. I dont know if it was Mr Mambo or him telling me that jinx'd me.

Hi marzocchi,

Thanks. Hummmmm Mr. Mambo is actually a beloved childrens character in Japan and used as a sign of friendlyness, intelligence, and from what my angler buddies said good luck and or happy times. You'll see it appearing at aquariums, travel agencies, and marine parks and thier promotional material everywhere.

Watched cartoons with my kids when they were small and read kids books to them with Mr. Mambo as a positive character.

I'll do some research on Yahoo Japan to see what I can find. Interesting ........

Await your next report !!

Hi murrieta angler,

Yes not bad. I use bigger baits when fishing Sculpin and regularly get bigger fish. I won't reel up 200 feet + for a 10 inch fish .... even if that's legal !!!
