Headed up to Big Bear lk. again for some easy wide open trout trolling . Started off in the eagle point area and wasn't much there but a few smaller trout . The fished moved West a little just west of the Observatory but had a freind trolling right in front of the Observ. and got a quick limit . I caught and released 10-12 smaller trout using the Dick Nite spoon and a rainbow rapala J-5 , But then I switched to a J-7 rapala Firetiger at between 3-5 colors and it went wide open , bites with in minutes of setting out on both rods . I kept fish a little bigger than the ones I was releasing as the WIND was getting real bad . A freind lost 1 estimated at 5-6 lbs. trolling on 4lb. test , broke him off on the dick nite spoon . Talked to a few others at the launch and everyone was doing good . // db http://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt74/db_bucket_photos/IMG_1180.jpg http://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt74/db_bucket_photos/IMG_1182.jpghttp://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt74/db_bucket_photos/IMG_1190.jpghttp://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt74/db_bucket_photos/IMhttp://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt74/db_bucket_photos/IMG_1192.jpgG_1191.jpghttp://i599.photobucket.com/albums/tt74/db_bucket_photos/IMG_1191.jpg

I went up again today, took 38 less fog, and was fishing a bay just west of where you were trolling and saw a number of fish on the top of the water. They were too far to cast from the shore. I got one strike early on a spoon but then the top bite was out too far. Sounds like trolling is great right now. Took my brother-in-law and we caught 3 each and farmed 2 each. Left at 12:30 when the weather change. Love that little point where there are a lot of hold overs. Only one female had eggs but all had that red meat and full tails.

Bob , the east launch ramp is the only public ramp open now , the west ramp wont open till may 12 . MWD # 909/866-5796 The triangle from Lagonita point to Egle point and to the Observatory is the place now . 3.50 COLORS LEAD OR FLAT LINE WORMS OR LURE but it really doesnt matter now as I have freinds fishing BBL now also and its wide open fishing on anything really . Dont wait - GO NOW , Before it warms up and the water skiers come out to play . // steve

Very nice holdovers. Congrats. Does anyone ever try downriggers? Seems like it would be a better fight.

gb , I have D/R on my boat but cant use them with no easy way to get to them with my little boat loaded with people , so lead line is easier and faster . BUT I do use my D/R up there once the weeds start coming out as the weeds get hung up on my cable at the surface and stays there instead of sliding down to my lure and fauling them . Theres also times when I do use them up there when I want to fish close to the surface and want my line down from my boat quick because of the skiers and wave runners . Yea probably a better fight as I use a better setup for my D/Rs. // db
