Met up with a friend from work with his daughter and niece , all newbies to fishing at the Mill crk. ranger station, and headed to BBL . Arrived at the lk. about 9:00 am and was fishing by 9:45 . We headed over to the Observatory area and dropped our leadcore lines at 3 colors , 1 with a J-5 rainbow rapala and the other with a Dodger and half a nite crawler . [ A freind was up there trolling all around the same area and getting his 3 limits on a trolled dick nite spoon at 5 colors leadline .] All fish were full tail holdovers which means red meat . We ended up catching our 4 limits in about 3 1/2 hours with a bunch of fish lost due to newbeness , we had several double hookups and it was a fun time teaching these kids on a wide open bite . It started off early with sun shine and then it turned cloudy and windy [ 10-15 mph westerly ] , didn't check water temp because who cares , ha . I wanted better pics of the trip but it was total crazyness . We were getting our fish just east of the Observ. closer to Eagle point , and then the fish moved a little west almost in front of Observ. , but when you trolled over them it was WFO . // db

I was out there yesterday and it was wide open. We drifted and caught our limits also. Great fishing and gorgeous weather. They were hitting everything. I had crickets left over from pan fishing at Lake Perris and they loved em. I even had a panther martin in the water unattended as I was tending my other pole when a trout slammed the spinner as it drifted behind the boat. It's a rare day when we see the water level all the way up. It's looking up at BBL. I hope the fishing and weather is as good during the May Trout Classic in a few weeks.
