I arrived at the lake Saturday morning around 8am. Payed my fishing fees, launched my boat, and was on the troll soon there after. I started out trolling various lures and spoons dipped/soaked in Bite-On.
I just bought a new dipping container for my Bite-On I use. I had 1 bottle of Bite-On Crimson and 1 bottle of Bite-On Anise left so I decided to mix them together in my new container.

1st fish of the day 10 mins after leaving the dock!

2nd fish of the day! A beautiful LMB i'd say around 2lbs 8ozs?

After making a lap around most the lake I made my way back over to where I caught the LMB and wouldn't you know it. 3rd fish of the day, another LMB around 2lbs!

By now it was 12pm so I headed in for some brunch from the Vine Cafe and to see if anyone was in line yet for the Kiddie Rod Challenge. After eating, Bruce Watson comes rolling up to the tackle shop in this little ride. You see he was a bit confused and he thought it was a Kiddie "H0T" Rod Challenge. Here's a pic I took of it later in the day when my Daughter and Wife arrived at the lake.

The gates opened for the KRC right at 5pm and we promptly headed for the North side of the Kids Lagoon. It was slow on our side of the Lagoon. Around 5:45pm my Daughter and I headed back over to the other side of the Lagoon to get our hotdog dinners. The South side of the Lagoon was def doing better as most everyone had atleast 1 fish on their stringer. Bruce Watson (last years KRC champion) had already limited out in the 1st 20 mins with his top fish being a 3lb 6ozer.
As we headed back over to our spot I could see everyone gathered around my fishing area. My Wife was hooked up and fighting a good one! As I walked up she wanted to hand the rod off to me as her arm was tired from battling the hard fighting fish but we told her she had to do it by herself otherwise the fish won't count. Finally she got the fish close enough for one of our neighbors to net the fish for us. If that group is on this board thanx again for the help! Her fish read 4lbs 4ozs on our neighbors digi scale!

Although we didn't get anymore after that the fish had def moved over to our side of the lake once the sun started to set as other anglers on our side of the lake started catching fish. At 9pm with an hour left we decided to wrap things up and start heading over to weigh-in my Wifes fish and I still had to get my boat outta the main lake. Athough there were a few reports of a some big farmed fish nothing bigger then my Wifes fish hit the scale and as the clock hit 10pm she secured 1st place!

We didn't buy in to the side pot so my Wife's fish wasn't eligable for the $money$. While last years champion Bruce Watson ended up with 3rd place overall, his fish was good enough to take the top $money$ prize! Congrats Bruce!
Here's a pic I took of the overall top 3!

What a great day! Such a fun event. Good times for sure. Next saturday the 23rd there will be an "un-official" Team 57 event, the "April Farm Fest" at the Vine. A few of us are going to get together and camp/BBQ the line the night before. Come join us for some good times and great fishing at my favorite lake, the Vine!
