We head up the BBL on Saturday. We did not leave that early because we want to make sure there was no snow on the road. We called the Caltrans hotline to see if we need chains but we did not. As we started making are way up the hill we got into the snow.

We got to my parent cabin around noon. We put are stuff in the cabin and head to the Kmart to get a second rod stamp then hit the lake. We head to Boulder Bay but it was crowed. So we try Grout Bay but it was a place that you need waders to get out there so then we head toward the eastern end of the lake. We found a spot. We fished there for a while and another family came to fish there too. But it got to cold and windy so we start packing up when the DFG came by. He asked the other family for there fishing licence but one of them did not have one so he told them to wait why he check to we had one we showed him our and he left us leave. I tried one more spot near the village and i got one hit but i missed it. We called it a night because it was too cold.

We got up around 9am went and got breakfast, then we head to Boulder Bay. We got there around 11:30am. I put some spring green pb on my wife's pole and dip it in some trout dip from pb. Then i put out my rod with some rainbow pd with no dip on it. I want to see who would get the first hit. While we were waiting to get hit i casted out my jig to see if i could get some trout. I did not get any hits but i look at my wifes line and i saw it straight out. She told me that some weeds moved it out like that but i told her no it could not have done that then i saw her pole bend. I told her to set the hook. She did and start to reel it in but she said she lost it but i said no it was still on there. She got it to the dock and i netted it for her.

This was her first trout from BBL.
After that there was not more hits for a little while. Then a family came on with there three kids. They had two rental rods and was told this was a good spot to fish. I notice the kids were putting on to much pb bait. I show them how much to put on and i let them put it in my dip i had. He cast it out and it was out no more then 10min and he had a hook up. So since green and yellow color were working i put on a yellow pb egg on my jig i cast it out and let it sink a little then i start jigging it in when i got a hook up.

As i was unhooking my fish the kids got hooked up so i told them to grab my net. As they got there fish in, my wife's pole went off again so we had to run over there with the net. I kept moving around on the dock casting out my jig with the pb egg on it when i got another hook up so the kids got my net had help me get him in. So i has i was unhooking it they got another trout on there line and ran over to get him. Here is the pic of me holding my trout and the kids in the background netting there trout.

lost my jig in the trouts mouth so put and other one on this time with a power worm. I was putting on my jig when my pole was going off with pb so i told my wife to reel it in. Here is pic of the trout we had so far at the time.

Great report Greg! I wish my parents had a cabin up there, but I can't complain since my brother lives in Tahoe and has plenty of room in his house for guests. It's just a longer trip to get there.

I don't get very hungry while fishing either. I thought it was just me, but I guess not. I think it's the adrenaline and concentrating on fishing. It makes fishing a sort of weight control device. :EyePop:

Loooks like maybe part of a power worm ... and the other has a power egg? Maybe it's the color. Is that a cheese pw? And which kind of egg? I've never tried an egg attached to a mjig ... new kind of stinger?

No that is not a cheese pw it is chartreuse floating pw. It is a power egg on the other one in a color a yellow. I never attached a egg to a jig before. Since i was not getting any bites on the jig by it's self instead of walking back to the car and get a different color i put on what i had in my wifes tackle. So you can say it a new kind of stinger. It worked i got two off the power egg/jig combo.

Thats why I carry 10 jig colors lol and worms. Top jig colors you should always have, shad, firecracker shad, frog, grasshopper, white, and yellow white. For worms, chartruse, white, orange, natural or pumpkin seed, and black. Give power nymphs a try next time, use a 1/32 or 1/64 jig head, carolina rig or dropshot.

Vanilla -

I've got all that stuff and more

But ... how do you rig up the power nymphs? .... and have you tried the power tubes?

Also ... do you add NC's or power worms to your jigs to make a "stinger?"

nymphs: u can put them on a jighead or dropshot and splitshot. all 3 ways u slide the hook thru the head and until the desired amount is in the hook. the tubes work well dropshot, nose hooked

also: u add powerworms as ur stinger and cut off some so that u can thread it on and it doesnt kill the action of the jig. use contrasting colors ex. black and chartruse nc,s dont relly work as a stinger for me because they will fall off

i had more jig colors in the car but i did not want to walk back and get them. I was using a 1/64. I only have chartruse and orange color worms.
