Finally a ''Catch 22''....
Donned a wet suit for the first time and hit the froth near Malibu...The suit worked great allowing me to go deep without filling my knickers with half the Pacific.
Was throwing a LC Metallic Sardine...without additional ''Art'' work (same one that snagged my 5 ft. Leo) via a Shimano Saros 4000 with Suffix 10lb on a Shimano Scimitar 8'6''....a really terrific rod for cheap... sorry I popped the tip loading the truck...Nice chubby BSPs were hitting, and then the sweet specimen pictured.
Snapping my rod, though, helped me snap too...and order a Wingnut....make that a Carrot Stix spinning rod.... I wish Stix still manufactured Arthur's 7'10'' fav, but alas....My other wish is that I don't get one that snaps on the first cast....
I was still feeling a little loco so I threw my Visa to the wind and ordered a Powell Max Composite Crankbait 7'11'' casting rod as well...I will be a major surf stalker next week...
