is a 3/4oz size 4/0 too big for a 4" swimbait? i want to fish for halibut would the hook be too big for their mouth? i'm a newbie :Sad:

Under most conditions the small to mid-sized baits (3 to 5 inch) are the ones to start with. The weight of the jig head depends on personal preference, depth fishing, target species, type of retrieve, etc. For 3 inch baits the most popular size is 1/4 oz. For 4 inch baits the most popular range is 1/2 oz. - 3/4 oz., for 5 inch baits the range is 3/4 oz. - 1.5 oz., and for 5½ and 6½ inch baits the range is 1 oz. - 1.5 oz.
