The monday of the sardine die off was the best day fishing ever for big horse macs. The die off was in 5% of the harbor only on the inland Hermosa side. EVERY cast produced a fish that day and 2 Bonito and a couple bones lost in 1 1/2 hours of fishing.
I could have filled several buckets with horse macs the day of the sardine die off.

Since then the bubble has been off. There is anchovies and reg size macs now.

Your question is broad and depends on what you target. Bottom or top fishing, lure or bait.
Opaleye with seaweed ?
Boat or shore ?

Slim pickins on calico's. If you go back to started posts I have been all over it this year with more misses than hits. On the flip side there have not been any shore based bonito caught this year any where else posted.
