The best day of the year so far. The weather down at Bolsa was absolutely beautiful. Water clarity was a little churned in the morning, but later in the day turned to the crystal clear water I love. The perch were no where to be found which was alright with me because I just picked up a new phenix crankbait rod last night from a local Pawn shop for 40$. The large tidal swing at BC made for some really deep trenches, Spotted a few larger beans early in the morning so I threw the CrAcK for a few looks but no Cigar. I worked a long stretch of beach with BH's and LC sardine. I was so determined to catch a hali. I started walking back towards the inlet while doing a little sand worm "trolling"( where you walk next to a trench draggin the sand worm behind you) This has worked in the past so I said I'd give it a shot. Sure enough about 10' past a trench I hook a butt. Just a little 19" but fun on a 2# leader. It seems when Ever I'm throwing for Hali's I get perch but now when I'm throwing for perch n beans I get Butts WHAT THE HECK!. After playing around and trying to hook a beans in the shallows, I threw on the waders and hit the inlet at low tide. sand bars all across. They are dredging the back of the inlet and flushing it all out in front of it. broken mussles every where and spot fin were on the chase. I landed a smaller model on a motor oil grub. Bait and wait mussels would be crazy there. Few cast's with the cast master and I called it a day. Sorry no pictures of fish. But a few of the beauty LOL

I like that last pic.. Those godwits(birds) can show you where to find bait.
