i wanted to try my hand at sharking sometime this summer, tips on rigging bait, location, etc.

There's been some big leos landed lately. Here's what I use when I go sharking. Depending on the surf, use 3-6oz pyramid sinkers. Try santa monica, or malibu (charthouse).
bait - Macks, sardine chunks
rod - 11-13ft rod w/20# line. Wire leader also.
hooks - 2/0-3/0

Are you talking about shoreline sharks or boating for sharks? I've done alot of both.

heh, i ended up using our 11 foot rod, chunks of surf perch and a 3 oz pyramid with 20 lb line and a 20lb wire leader on 3/0 hooks. got a buttload of 2-4 foot sngfs and 2 really big butterfly rays. post soon to come.
