I've been fishing local lakes for the past few years, and have always been interested in shore fishing. I was wondering if someone can give me some pointers. I was hoping to go for halibut. What line do i use? What bait? And most importantly what area around Huntington or any other beach is a good spot?

Newport Bay is good to fish from the shore using swim bait for bass and halibut. I use 8lbs test line.

I could not believe how many people were at Alondra Park yesterday fishing and for what ?
Nobody catching nuttin ? In the the ocean you can fish many different species and the boring factor is much less. Start off on perch, then move up.

I want to fish at Huntington, but have no idea where to go. Coming from Knotts Berry Farm, where should i go?

Fish anywhere there is no ppl in the water. Read this post it will help you to fish the surf. But if you go 15mins south of Hunthington you can fish Newport Bay and surf.

any pier you got to will be crowded because you don't need a lience on there. But if you do go to the pier just go behind the breaks in the surf.
