Woke up and got the kids ready for school. Dropped them off at 7:30 and headed up the pass to meet Drew in Devore. Waited for about 15 minutes and he no showed so I said PEace Out:Rolls Eyes:. Landed at the store around 820 and talked to the folks there while getting my wristband. Upon parking I noticed it was a little crowded but assumed it was due to Spring Break. I got out of the trusty F350 and rigged up the Phenix Elixir with a Dropshot. I put on my go to bait right now, a Drew's Custom Bait's Black worm, and hit the Finger Cove. Second cast out the pole goes bendo and the first one is on its way in. This model was a general stocker about 2 pounds, I accidentally lost it while unhooking it in the water :Secret:. 2 casts later another one on the line, same model and he managed to get away too :LOL:. After a few more casts I landed a bigger model and he came in and was given to the gentleman next to me. I switched a few colors and nothing and said it was time to take a walk. I headed back to the drain and to my surprise there was no one fishing the ledge area by the drain. I walked over and threw out my line still on the Drrew's Black via the dropshot and took a look around. Instantly the pole went tap tap tap. I set the hook and the stradic started zinging. I got a lil excited and wondered if the drag was set too light or it was what I have been after, the illustrious DD. After about 10 minutes I got the fish close enough that I could see it and I immediately yelled "Can someone get a net, I got a lunker over here". The guy across the sdrain grabbed his and ran over. I was starting to get worried cause where I was there is some structures in the water and the fish was trying to make a run at them with some nasty headshakes. After another 5 minutes I got him to lay on his side and we got the net on it. I brought this baby in and it was by far the biggest fish I have ever caught. I got the stringer on him immediately not to risk losing this thing in any way. As the crowd started to form, I let out a little yell of victory. I continued to fish the black drews custom and gave some guys a few trial samples and the bite stayed on. I than switched over to my favorite jig under a bobber for a few more that I graciously gave to the guy who netted my fish and called it a day. I stopped on the way out and weighed it twice on peoples scales, the first one said 11#, the next said 9.5#. I took it up to the store and Pete did the honors of weighing it in just over 10 pounds!!!!!:EyePop::EyePop:. My First DD Trout. I immediately threw it on some ice and ran home to take some more pictures. This baby measured out at 30 inches and the girth was fat too. This thing had a good set of teeth as well. Thanks Drew for the worms and I'm ready to head back up to Hesperia again next week!!! On the pics, check out the head and teeth on this thing and that is a FULL SIZE IGLOO COOLER
