hi i live in citrus heights california its right in between sacramento and roseville and i was wanting to catch a bunch of crawdads this summer to eat i know the creeks around here are stuffed with them but im not sure if they would be edible or if id get sick from them. Then someone told me about the sloughs around the rice fields has a bunch does anyone know of any creeks or lakes around the sacramento area or north of it that has a good population of crawdads if so can someone help me out here.

Lake Tahoe has a ton and are sweet to eat!! Water Cold and Clear.

All the forks of the American River rock for dads. I'm from the Coloma area and used to get 50 at a time in a trap baited with canned dog food. Cold clean water is the key for tasty dads IMO.
