Me and my friend were fishing at hermosa pier and he caught a couple cabezon on squid. I was wondering what socal surf species are caught at that pier. Thanks...

It all depends on where you are and what time of year it is. To list a few there is perch, asorted croaker, corbina, cudas, sharks( mainly smooth hound and outher small dudes ),SNGF (shovel nose guitar fish), rays, and the all time favorites MACERAL! my sugestion is to look on the poster/plaque things they have at the begining of the piers to get a good idea, but dont think that those are the only species you will catch, I have seen some crazy stuff from 35# yellows caught tail rapped on a sabiki to 70# threshers.
