A record 250 anglers entered the Sports Chalet Derby that was held today under beautiful pre frontal conditions today at the lake. Prior to the tournament the fish where all over the place with the west shore, sanitiago flats and woodys cove proving to be the place to be. Out of the 250 contents over a hundred fish where checked in at the tournament scales proving the fish where still on the chew. When the dust settled it would take a 4lb plus fish to crack the top 10.
Brian Anderson ended up taking 1st place with this 5.6 Rainbow Trout. That 5.6lb trout was worth $1750 dollars in tournament winnings. Did a little math on this fish and it equated out to $312.50lb per pounds of fish. Not a bad day on the water at all. Congratulations to you Mr Anderson.

Andrew Aparralo of Fullerton checked in this 5.4 Rainbow good enough for 2nd place and a birth into the Masters Tournament.

Here is a picture of the raffle scene. A lot of good prizes where given away today and I would like to thank Mr. Jeff Ingram of Berkley for all the hard work he put into todays event. I would also like to thank Pure Fishing for their continued support of Irvine Lake. A big shout out to Sports Chalet for having this event for the ninth year running.

And this is what our sport is all about. These kids had a blast at the lake today and where so proud of their catch.
Til next time,
