My Sis and I had to meet up today to handle some family business so we decided what better place then Corona Lake! I arrived at the lake around high noon to a shoreline that looked more like a zoo and a lake that resembled bumper cars. Anyways after launching the boat we quickly rigged up our rods to do some trolling. We trolled various lures all dipped/soaked in Bite-On Anise Fish Attractant.

Didn't take long and I had the 1st fish of the day a 1lb 8oz tailwalker!

Shortly after I nailed this baby crappie on the leadcore! (safely released)

and finally, my 1st lightning trout ever!

By now it was close to 4pm and I ran into Sapdawg. He told me they were all piled up "over there" and it "looks like a koi pond". He kindly gave me a pack of mini jigs to use and sent me on my way.

3rd trout of the day on a mini jig dipped in Bite-On Anise!

After landing my 4th trout of the day it was time to start heading in. I decided to troll one more lap around the lake as I headed in.

'round the last bend I landed this baby LMB! (safely released)

Great work Steve and awesome meeting you out there!!!! Not many people are willing or have the knowhow to troll Corona so WAY TO SHOW 'EM HOW IT'S DONE!! I had the most perfect shot of you yesterday all lined up...you went bendo right next to me on the troll, jumped on your seat and started battling this fish, I lined up the camera...trees in the background, perfect silhouette of you BENT...pull the trigger on the camera and on the lcd screen flashes "memory card not inserted". DOH!!! I'm an idiot. But despite my brain fart, still a ton of fun to watch. I'm seeing the start of a whole new trolling division of the Inflatable Navy, we can call it...THE INFLATABLE NAVY MINESWEEPERS!!!!

And I HAVE to add, your boat is SHAAAWEEET! For those that haven't seen Steve's boat, it's the perfect size little skiff for every reason and it's CAMO! And this guy KNOWS HIS BOAT!! I saw him running up and down the thing like he had been doing it for decades, all while under power and trolling a body of water for the first time that: a) is NOT easy to troll (it's shallow, there's a ton of structure, and it's not the biggest lake in the world!) b) had A LOT of people on it yesterday and I did not see the guy tangle anybody once!!! And he caught a variety of fish to boot!!! Just awesome.

Again, great job out there. Glad you put the mini jigs to good use! And as soon as you want to hop on a float tube, just say the word. There are a bunch of us out here with extra float tube setups that are always happy to have a guy out there on our loaners!

GREAT WORK STEVE!!

Way to go on your first lightning trout Steve. I haven't fished Corona in forever but I think I need to get back out there. That is a very challenging lake to troll but if anyone can do it you can. Nice job!

Steve,

Glad to see you and your sister had a good time. I'm surprised you didn't hit any structure, but good for you. Perhaps I'll see you out there sometime. Nice fish by the way. Good luck this weekend.

TS, Nice going!!!
Trolling Corona is usually a weekday deal, BIG props for no tangles! Sweet lightnings too! Corona LMBs are a cool surprise on the troll. Leadcore?!? You're crazy, how'd you miss all the lost tackle and branches?
