While everybody is freaking out over a school of dead sardines I think this is a positive sign. Yesterday, Tons of anchovies at King Harbor. Wide Open mackeral bite, Bonito Zig Zagging while my reel is screaming.

Reports of record numbers of Squid, Sardines, Anchovies in the Santa Monica Bay.
Squid season shut down 2 months early due to the tonnage quota met.

Reports from Mexico to Pt Conception about bait. El Segundo Tankers had to turn off the lights since the squid were too thick and clogging intake cooling.

People, PETA, folks crying over overfishing and now we are having too much.

The King Harbor die off and wide open mackeral and bonito is evidence that the bait/fish population is very heathy.

Would you rather have seals following you to steal your fish, OR
A Fat Seal sleeping on a dock ?
Last couple years Pelicans/Seals starving.
Now everybody has a full stomach. :Applause:

I've noticed the pelicans starving too.. They get really bold when hungry.. There's a famous juvenile pelican on the Newport pier, very pushy. he'll bite you if you ignore him.

I swear to god this one pelican gave my buddy the Bird-version of ... well.. ..the bird, after stealing a fat jacksmelt he intended to keep. Haha when he stomped at the pelican, it just spread it's wings, made a harsh sound, and stepped towards him..
